Privacy Policy
Effective July 6, 2026
TesBeHonest exists to tell you the truth about your car, so this policy tells you the truth about your data. It’s short because the honest answer is: we collect what the app needs to work, and nothing else.
The short version. No ads. No trackers. No selling or renting your data — ever. Your Tesla tokens are encrypted, location is processed only to power your drives’ features, and you can delete everything from inside the app.
1. What we collect
- Tesla account authorization. When you connect your Tesla account, we receive OAuth tokens (not your password). Tokens are stored encrypted at rest and used solely to read your vehicle’s data on your behalf.
- Vehicle telemetry. Battery level, charge state, energy usage, odometer, and — during drives — vehicle location and route progress. Telemetry powers the honest range estimate, Live Activities, arrival predictions, and trip history.
- Settings you provide. Your electricity rate (used to compute real charging and trip costs) and notification preferences.
- Basic account and diagnostic data. An account identifier, subscription status from Apple, and minimal logs needed to keep the Service reliable.
We do not collect contacts, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. There is no third-party advertising or analytics SDK in the app.
2. How we use it
Only to provide the Service: computing honest range, sending the notifications you enabled, rendering widgets and Live Activities, and building your trip history with energy and cost. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training unrelated systems.
3. Sharing
We never sell or rent your personal data. Data is shared only with infrastructure providers that host the Service (acting on our instructions under contract), with Apple for subscription processing, and with Tesla’s API as required to read your vehicle’s data. We may disclose data if the law genuinely requires it.
4. Retention
Vehicle telemetry and trip history are kept while your account is active so your history works. Tokens are kept only while your Tesla account is connected — disconnecting the account invalidates and removes them. Routine server logs are short-lived.
5. Deletion
You can delete your account inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). Deletion removes your Tesla tokens, telemetry, trip history, and settings from our systems. If the app is unavailable to you, email us and we’ll delete it manually.
6. Security
Tokens are encrypted at rest, data moves over TLS, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfect, but we treat your vehicle data with the care we’d demand for our own car.
7. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (and, frankly, they shouldn’t be driving your Tesla). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date and note the change in the app where appropriate.
